Dear Fellow residents of Oranjemund,
Welcome 2023 with New Hope and Optimism..
As we ushered into the new year, we can only appreciate life through the Grace of our Almighty Father for leading us through 2022 and granting us once again with an opportunity to look forward and bring change for the betterment of our people.
2022 has been an incredible year with tremendous achievements which were accomplished through hard work and dedication despite numerous challenges.
We appreciate all the support and remain committed to strengthen frequent engagements, to create more platforms for constructive dialogue and to share information to keep all our residents up to date on Council projects.
As the Mayor of Oranjemund, I am extremely delighted for the direction we are embarking on, these are indeed exciting times for our town as Council remains committed to progressively complete ongoing capital projects for the FY 2022/2023 such as land & housing development, the finalization our five (5) Strategic Plan, construction of services at extension 10, construction of the fire station, the land fill site, electrification of Baghdad informal settlement and many more.
Council will soon host its first public meeting for the year and will briefly update the community on the progress of all Council projects and to address any other concerns related to how Council can improve its municipal service delivery.
In order to render improved services, we further would like to remind all our tenants that rent accommodation units or any other properties from Council, to kindly make timely payments to avoid eviction or disconnection of municipal services. Please visit our offices to make payment arrangements with our finance department.
Council is aware of numerous labour related complaints due to economic hardships faced by local businesses/contractors and its employees.
I therefore would like to encourage all local businesses /contractors to continue to motivate and encourage their employees to ensure a consistent and productive working environment and most importantly to comply with the Namibian labour laws to ensure harmonious labour relations between both employers and employees. Let’s avoid labour unrest within our town.
I call upon all residents to continue supporting our local businesses, the youth and SME’s as I am confident that with the spirit of partnership and cooperation, we will be able to prevail over any challenges our town faces and accomplish any goal. So, lets embrace our vision: a town that thrives on new possibilities.
Furthermore, lets continue to work together and play our roles actively in harnessing harmony and stability, to maintain a peaceful town.
On behalf of the Oranjemund Town Council, I wish you all a happy, healthy and successful NEW YEAR.
REGARDS,
HW , Cllr. Elias Kasemba
Mayor of Oranjemund
