In March 2012, Oranjemund Town Council held their first ever Local Authority elections. The municipal council is comprised with seven (7) Local Authority Councillors sworn in at Oranjemund Town Council.
Council Meetings are held monthly to discuss various development issues and public submissions. Residents, members of the public and the media are welcome to attend these meetings. During these sessions’ decisions pertaining to land development, the municipal budget, staff matters, municipal bylaws and all other decisions that affect the future of Oranjemund and its residents are voted on.
Members of the public are not allowed to intervene or speak during these proceedings, but councillors, as representatives of local community constituencies, may request that a particular submission be referred back to the Management Committee for further discussions.
